I was thinking of taking ap bio and apush in the same year is this a good idea or is it to much work with this schedule in mind
APES
AP STATS
precalc Honors
English DE
Anotomy and physiology hon
Trig hon
your schedule makes no sense.
You need English, one science class, one social science class, one math (pre-calculus honors is the most important from the three you listed - and unless your school doesn’t block scheduling, you wouldn’t need to take trig before pre-calculus nor can you take them concurrently) , one foreign language, and one elective (art, CS, band, etc)
So your schedule should look something like…
AP biology
APush
DE English
Foreign language 3or 4 or AP
Pre-calculus honors
One elective
You do NOT need/want three math classes and three science classes at the same time. If you want to double up in science, you could add whichever one from honors physics or honors chemistry you’ve not taken yet. If you have taken both already, see if you can take a CS class (AP CS principles for example).
We only need 2 years of foreign language to graduate
APES is AP environment science
I am taking trig because it helps on the sat
However you will need foreign language for college admission (the higher you’re aiming for, the more they’ll expect.) And at many colleges you’ll also have a foreign language placement test during orientation and a foreign language (college) graduation requirement.
Basically, the more you take in highschool the better off you are.
Trig is included in pre-calculus. You don’t need to take both. Pre-calculus covers more math than trig.
Does pre calc cover the trig questions on the SAT?
And thank you for tha advice about tge second language i will definitely take a third year of french but my only concern is that it is really hard and i barely got an a last year in French 2
I don’t know if this helps but i am bilingual
Wow, I want you to give me some schedule advice @MYOS1634 nicely done!
Bilingual with what language - do you have an external certificate about your second or first language?
Yes Precalc Honors covers the trig questions on the SAT.
So I am not taking trig Thanks
I speak arabic but I have report cards from when i was in middle and elementary school of my arabic scoors since i traveled here about a year ago
Were you in an Arabic-speaking school till 8th grade?
Do you have any “test” or “lower school exam” or “proficiency certificate” that would prove what level you have?
Your English is really good if you only came here a year ago! I hadn’t realized you weren’t a native speaker.
The fact you’ve just arrive also explains the “weird” schedule you made above.
AP biology
APush
DE English
Either Arabic 202* or 300 at a community college (to have external proof of your level) OR Spanish 3 OR an elective (can be APES - but APES is only an elective for a student who takes AP Bio. If your school offers AP CS Principles it may be a better elective to take).
Pre-calculus honors
One elective
- See if you can take Arabic 202 this Spring at the local Community College. This way you're done with the external certification, unless you want to continue with a 300 level class somewhere, but those are hard to find. Having this level of proficiency thus attested would help you get into some top universities, such as Georgetown or Tufts, where mastery of a difficult, "critical" (= important) language is a definite boost.
Ok thank you i will take Arabia over the summer I can speak English well due to the fact that i was in a private school that taught arabic and english from preschool
