Wow GreenDayFan I think you're being a little harsh, considering he has a 3.9 and a 2270. Anyway your ECs are your weakest point so you really need to work on those. I'm not going to comment on specific schools because I am not familiar with all of them but I disagree with GreenDayFans assesment.

um thats ridiculous i am not being the least bit harsh, dartmouth, williams , amherst, middlebury and bowdoin are essentially reaches for nearly everyone. I think its obvious you are not familiar with them because they are extremely competitive schools and while I think phil has a great shot at them, they are still hands down reaches. Please enlighten me as to how I was being harsh.....

get real: Bowdoin is not A REACH, it is a MATCH. He has an 800 verbal, i mean his math could be improved, but admissions officers realllly prefer the higher verbal kids. Think about it, the kid with the 1470 (800 M, 670 V) will have a harder time than the kid with the 800 V and 670 M.

Agree, I think Bowdoin and mid are matches. The 800 verbal is unusual, lots of 800 maths but few CRs.

sry, u know what, they are actually matches, i apologize i only saw combined SAT i didnt see the break down and the 2 800's. But his ec's are relatively weak so I wouldn't say i was being especially harsh....

Dartmouth-pretty good
Williams-good
Amherst-good
Middlebury-never heard of it
Bowdoin-pretty good
Claremont McKenna-safety
Whitman-never heard
Colorado College-never heard

Dartmouth - Ivy reach (reach for everyone)
Williams - same
Amherst - same
Middlebury - same, but you have a higher chance here than at the first 3
Bowdoin - about the same as middlebury
Claremont McKenna - about the same as middlebury & bowdoin
Whitman - safety
Colorado College - safety

You need to pick some matches. You have reaches and safeties.

Look at things like Bard-like, rankings 15-30 on the USNews scale.

Thanks for all the replies. Do you think Colgate, Bates and Colby are matches?

You would have a goodchance at all if you get recruited for one of your sports.

I think you definitely need some safety schools. Even with good scores, you're not guaranteed to be admitted at any of those picks. (Not that you're ever "guaranteed," but you know what I mean.)

Might look at Bucknell and Holy Cross.

Colgate, Bates, Colby - definitely matches.
