I am an incoming freshman in BioE and I want to know if this is a reasonable plan:

Bioengineering/materials science engineering joint major
Spanish minor
Chinese minor

Is this too much? I would ideally major in BioE and have at least one minor in a foreign language. I am already fluent in Chinese and proficient in Spanish and would go straight into UD for both.

Hopefully someone with more direct knowledge of the major can also comment, but I’d figure out how many courses would be required and then figure out how many semesters would be required.

Joint majors are a lot of work…I know most of the people in my major (ChemE) who were thinking of doing joint majors with MSE or NucE ended up dropping the joint major in favor of taking just the electives that interested them.

My recommendation would be to start off as though you’re going to follow your plan and then drop things if necessary, if the workload becomes too much. My guess is that the most you’ll end up doing is either BioE+2 minors or the joint major+1 minor.
