Help with merit scholarships

Northwesty…that’s what I thought. You just confirmed my entire thinking over the last three months. And you’re right, she is a mere mortal and an adorable one at that:) I spoke with her last night and she has decided to apply for two, maybe three, merit scholarships at schools she really loves and would happily attend. Her father and I would be happy to pay a bit more if the opportunity was worth it. Thanks for your honesty. It’s is so helpful during this nutty process.

It sounds like you have a wonderful young lady as a daughter. You are blessed to have such solid affordable in state options that are available to her.
I think to compete for the most significant scholarships at selective schools your daughters ACT score will likely need to be a point or two higher. Even then I believe it will be unlikely that she would improve upon your in state options.
Wishing she and your family well!

At any instate private schools in FL she’d also get a resident grant. It was $3300 last year. With BF, you basically start with a $10k discount at a private school. That helps a lot at Florida Southern or Flagler, not so much at $70k schools like Rollins and UMiami.

Try Univ of Alabama. They offer a 95% tuition scholarship. If she can raise that ACT to a 34 or score a 1500 on the SAT, she qualifies for the Presidential Scholarship at TCU, which covers full tuition.

Add to your list: BC, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Villanova, BU.

All offer full ride but are VERY competitive, typically top 1% of admitted students.

@rickle1 IIRC, the Trustee Scholarship is Boston University’s most Generous merit scholarship…and it is full tuition…not a full ride.
