Northwestern, NYU, UCB, UCLA, UCSD are reaches

Thanks a lot!

any more advice on my chances?

You look good for UT, and I agree with you’llsee’s ranks.

I agree with you’ll see

Please chance me

Your UC GPA is only 4.0, despite your great test scores–and that’s because you didn’t get into many honors courses due to moving so much. For that reason, you’ll get a little break on the GPA.

You need about a 1950 SAT to get into UCSD–which, along with UCSB will be your cheapest, yet very good academic, schools. NYU is the best business school on the list that you have good chances at.

Your current SAT will probably still get you into UCSB–but it’s kind of a close thing–so retake those SATs and do well–especially the CR score–and retake the SAT IIs to take the Chinese test

Here are your chances based upon current SAT scores:
UC-Berkeley–Reach
UCLA–Reach
UC-San Diego–Slight Reach
UC-santa barbara–Match
UIUC (Illinois)–Slight Reach
Uni. of Texas -Austin (OOS)–Slight Reach
Univ of Washington–Match
Uni. of Wisconsin -Madison–Match
Boston University–Safe Match
Clark–Safety
Northwestern–Reach
NYU–Slight Reach (SATs are killing you at this school–get them up 100 points to have a good chance here).

Good luck.

I don’t think Boston U is a safe match, UTexas Austin is a reach and so is UWisconsin Madison.

Boston University’s average SAT score is 643/656/655 = 1954 and average GPA is 3.5 (UW). The OPs SAT is 3.8 to 3.9 UW and has a 1740 SAT (very likely to go up) and good ECs, and is international (BU admits 7% international students, but gets less than 7% in applications).

I’ll stick with safe match.

University of Wisconsin’s average SATs are about 611/649/635= 1895, and GPA is 3.68 (UW). I stick with match there.

As for Texas, since OOS is so much harder than in-state, it’s always tough to rate applicants there.

But everyone is entitled to their own opinions, including padfoot–I’m just giving the basis for some of my opinions here.

Thanks for posting~ I really appreciate!

I am taking a SAT prep course in the summer right now. Hope to raise my SAT score at least 150 ( 100 likely on the CR, trying to do 150).
