help with my list?

I haven't considered UNT because quite frankly, I've been to Denton before I didn't like it at all. Plus, Texas Tech is more prestigious of a school than UNT. I don't know if I would be happy in Lubbock since it is so isolated. Any of the UT satellites, Texas State, or U of H would satisfy me.

Rawtheekuh - I am a big fan of Texas Tech Honors College. My son graduated from Tech with a business degree in the summer of 2008 and he got his job with a Fortune 500 company via Tech Honors College contacts. We live in a northern suburb of Dallas and when we were visiting colleges in his senior year he at first said: "No way am I going to that hick town of Lubbock." Then we visited the Tech campus (almost everyone is very impressed and he was too). Then we drove around Lubbock (a bit over 200,000 residents) and he saw the mall, restaurants, etc. and said: "This isn't too bad." Finally, I pointed out that Metallica was having a concert the next week at Tech's United Spirit Arena and hick towns don't get top rock groups.

Tech Honors College has a great dean and a caring faculty. If you get into a UT Austin Honors program, go there. However, among state university honors programs in Texas, I would put Tech's up against all the others for various reasons. I went to the University of Chicago, but I recruit at high school college fairs for Tech because of how much it has done for my son.
