Help with National History Day topic choosing?

<p>I have several different topics that I'm considering, all in the same general field. What are some of your suggestions for narrowing it down? There are so many interesting things out there that I'm not sure what to pick. </p>

<p>I feel like I'm very behind, although obviously, I can't have a thesis until I do more research to support it. Should I just pick one and research it, then develop a thesis as I go along? Or should I scour all my potential topics for a general thesis then start research?</p>
