hello, My stats are not that great, and I am having a hard time choosing a college, and I want to know what you guys think, please

About me:
I am a hispanic female, and I plan on commuting to NYC about 1.5 hr.
I am Low middle-class income (or so I think)
I want to ultimately study engineering however the idea of a LAC is good because I am not a 100% sure of engineering and wouldnt mind bumping into somenthing else as long as I like it.
I am a city person as long as I can find a quiet place once in a while
I plan to do intramural volleyball and maybe have some campus extracurriculars.(yes nyc is not the best for intramurals)

The Colleges:
Manhattan College: 1000 off from full ride
NJIT: Full Ride and accepted at the honors college
NYU: ( if i want engineering can do with stevens) (idk financial aid yet)
Fordham: if i want engineering can do 5 yr combined secured acceptance with Columbia Engineering ( 27k in financial aid out of 34k)
Stevens: havent heard from yet but will most likely get in

My dilemma is do I want to go to a school for free and not worry about loans or do I want to go to a nationally recognized school with great academics such as Fordham and NYU.

any thoughts?

Have you tried to negotiate with Fordham at all? They might have some wiggle room to meet your other offers.

NYU is terrible for financial aid. I wouldn't hold your breath.

Fordham seems like a pretty good deal. If NYU does miraculously give you a good package then go there.

Actually I was thinking of doing that, but I am not sure If i should do that before they send the final award package the one I have is from February( I applied EA) what do you think

I would be aggressive about negotiating about financial aid since you already have a better offer and it is so important to you.

I am going to try to negotiate with Fordham, I received my acceptance to Stevens which across in NJ and I got a great package 34k Financial aid so ahh Idk any comments.

Don't take on a lot of debt. It's just not worth it for you. It's a burden you don't need. But be super aggressive in negotiating. Nothing to lose!

hey kenf1234 you rock for commenting
i am having trouble choosing a college mostly because they all offer me decent packages althought some better than others. So it is not so much about the financial aid althought i do plan on negotiating, I just feel that each college has their strengths, and I have visited them all, and read about them, and I dont know what to do lol, I mostly mean Fordham, NYU, and now starting to tempt me Stevens

If you aren't too worried about money, don't worry too much. Go with your gut instinct. Any of your options will work out just fine, so go wherever you think you'd be happiest/fit in best. YOU'RE the one who has to go to the college, remember. So do what you want. But I wouldn't go into deep debt if it can be avoided.

well fordham is the most expensive right now (excluding nyu probably), but i think it is the best choice for me considering the open options.

i want to do engineering but also love latin american studies and philosophy I want to be able to go into one of these, and not be stuck into one of them.

@NYU: nyu got great latin american studies, but gsp wouldnt allow me to do engineering at nyu with stevens in case thats what i wanted
@stevens: i might find out that i dislike engineering after all, and then i will be either stuck or having to transfer = headaches, if i do enjoy engineering then the co-op options will be great.
@Fordham: Latin American studies = pretty solid and interesting classes, if i do decide engineering i can do 5 year co-op with columbia u and receive both degrees. The difference between the out of pocket money i would have to give for fordham and stevens is 3k, hmmm.

more thoughts lol? seemes logical

i would be happy at either im very adaptable and i made sure i liked a school b4 applying.
