<p>I want to go to college in the NYC vicinity. I don’t think I want to live in the actual city, but what are some great colleges 1-2 hours away? I want to stay in the state of New York also. Please help.</p>

<p>Go to Collegeboard.com and use its College Selector function. Put in a zip code, say, from Manhattan, indicate NY only, and it will give a list of all the schools that meet your criteria.</p>
