Help with response date

Hi, I have been admitted to a school that requires me to give them a response within a month of the offer of admission. I am still waiting to hear back from 4 schools (Brown, Yale, Columbia, Wharton) that will let me know of admittance in 5 weeks...

Should I contact these schools and ask for earlier admissions decisions? I have read on a previous thread that Yale would be able to do that for me... if so who should I contact.

I think I will also contact the school and ask for an extension on the response date.

I would ask for an extension.

ask for an extension, but, first, email/call the other schools and find out when you will hear back from them so you know how long of an extension to ask for

I am doing the same thing… lol

This thread just gave me a huge sigh of relief. Glad I’m not the only one with the same problem…

My extension request was denied… can I pay a deposit and go somewhere else if accepted?

Yes, you are likely to lose the deposit if you don’t attend, but that’s a relatively small thing in the long run.

I don’t advise this for fr applicants, but transfers often have no other choice if schools don’t grant extensions/early reads, because the notification dates/deadlines are not uniform.

thanks entomom!

Do you think it would be possible to get early reads from Columbia, Penn, Brown or Yale?

If so, how do I go about seeking one?

I don’t know, but I would definitely ask as it can’t hurt and may help. Call or email admissions and explain your situation as a transfer with early deadlines from other schools.
