Help with schedule

I’ll be a sophomore next year, and since scheduling is very soon, I have to make some final decisions on classes.
I’m definitely doing AP Calc BC next year, as I’m in Precal right now. Also definitely doing AP Macro and Micro, and AP US and Comparative Government. However, I’m torn between which science AP to take. I’m currently in a
advance honors biology right now, but my schedule wouldn’t allow for AP Bio this year. Would it be wise to take AP Chem or Physics C considering time issues? My other classes will include Spanish IV and English II.

In addition to school, I’m extremely vested in a bunch of ECs, and a few days of the week I don’t get home to do homework until 9 or 10 pm; I just don’t want to stress myself out too much.

Thanks!

Have you taken a Chem or Physics course before?

No.

Confirm with some people, but I wouldn’t take AP Chem without Chem first. My dad used to teach Chem and Ive read on CC that you need to really get the basics of Chem first. AP Chem is arguably the hardest course in my school so… Thats what Im not stupid enough to take it as a sophomore (in my opinion). Rather wait a year, get a A or B over a D, and pass with a 4 or 5. I was talking to our AP Chem teacher who is extremely nice, and she said that the class average in her AP Chem classes is lower than 70 :open_mouth:

I dont really know anything about physics other than the fact that it uses some calculus, which is why I’m waiting till senior year for that. Good luck!

Thanks! I’m trying to get as much info (both from here, and from upperclassmen and the teacher) as I can before I decide.

I recommend you take Honors Chem or Honors Physics or AP Physics 1 before you take AP Chem and AP Physics C.
Jumping straight into either AP Chem or AP Physics C without the prerequisite is a very, very bad idea.

I second that. Even if the school allows it, it’s just setting you up for a very difficult time.

Don’t take AP Chem or Physics C without regular Chem and regular physics (or AP Physics 1). Personally, I think your course load looks super rigorous already. I’ve never seen a sophomore with more than 2 AP’s
