help with scheduling?

Most juniors at my school take AP Gov and Ap Econ. But I'm thinking about self studying the two. So I'm wondering: how tough is it to do this and what do you need to do to get a 5?

why don't you just take the classes. It will make your schedule look more rigorous, and you'll have a higher gpa/class rank ( provided that you earn A's in the courses).

If you're familiar with the rudiments (three branches of government, election process, how a bill becomes a law, etc.), and/or if you read a newspaper regularly, Gov should be a piece of cake. I self-studied last year with the Barron's book (see this post if you're considering using that book) and got a 5. Not sure about Econ.

i agree. unless there's another class u really want to take and wouldn't be able to fit into ur schedule otherwise. I would still second guess that though.

Well if I didn't take them I could take:

Intro to Philosophy
or
Asian Studies Honors

If I think AP Gov is easy to learn, should I self-study it and take one of the above classes? Or is it better to just take the class sinse the others aren't AP?

I think you might want to take AP Gov and Econ since they're AP classes and the other two aren't, unless you're really interested in one of the alternatives. Having more AP's will bring up your GPA and make your schedule look more rigorous to colleges.
