I'm starting this discussion because- as the title says- I need help. I looked through old discussions and found some goo d information :). But some of it is "old" and some seems "fake"- just posters attacking people and saying how smart they are. I hoping to get some real advice here. If you are a troll or want to talk about how you're smart and how I just have to "work more," then please do not post. I'm really struggling and want honest help, pleaseeee!

My situation: I am taking Phy 6A and Math 3B. I am a psycho/bio major- good at the psy and ok with ls, not so good with physics and math. I'm not obsessed with getting A's but I want to pass with better than a C?? I attend all of the lectures and really try the homework- which is more than what some of my friends do. Phy 6A was ok in the beginning but I started getting lost with the "work and energy" stuff.

What I've tried/thought about:
I read here about Covel Commons tutoring but that doesn't exist anymore. I don't know if I qualify for AAP. I tried the SMC. Sometimes it's helpful, sometimes not depending on the tutor. It's hard getting a tutor to stick around for multiple questions. I heard about Swartwood reviews but I thought that was a testprep company, not a tutoring company. One of my friend's older sister said that she has been there and that it gives great reviews on classes but she is already super good at physics. I tried two private tutors from the Math department website for Math 3B. One of them was more interested in getting coffee with me than in helping me with my homework. The other was nice but her rate was a bit too high for me.

Questions:
Do you have any general advice about surviving the Physics and Math sequence? Have to take through Phy6C and Math3C.

Do you know anything in particular about Shaked for Phy6A?

Does the textbook really help? I tried reading through my textbooks and just feel like I'm wasting my time but some people keep telling me that I should just work harder.

Can you suggest any good books, videos, anything? They do NOT have to be textbooks. I like Khan Academy but a lot of the class material isn't covered in the same way as class. [maybe I haven't looked through enough of the videos]

Do you know of any tutors near UCLA that you can recommend that are reasonably priced?
[no fake posts bashing other people please]

Is there anything like Covel Commons tutoring anymore?

Has any been to a Swartwood review- not the testprep stuff- actual reviews for classes? Does anyone know how much it costs? [again, no trolls please, I just want some help!]

Does anyone know what it takes to get AAP tutoring? I'm pretty sure I do not qualify, but I just wanted to check.

Is Math 3C much harder than Math 3B. I'm having a really hard time.

Any help would be appreciated :)!!
