Hi, I am going to be a sophomore at a new school in a new state after this year, however I have strong interest to pursue math and science for my majors in college (engineering etc). Basically my new school does not offer HL Math nor HL Physics for the IB Diploma Program. Will this sway my chances completely in getting in to colleges such as MIT or Georgia Tech for engineering and etc? My school does offer AP Calculus AB or AP Calculus BC but I am unsure as to whether or not SL Math overlaps properly for me to take the examination and keep SL Math… help please? If Im posting in the wrong threat, I’m sorry, but if one could then direct me towards where I should post I would also appreciate that. Thanks in advance.
No, it won’t. Universities look at whether or not you took the hardest courses offered at your school. Otherwise, private schools could have HL everything and charge exuberant fees. However, grades aren’t the largest part of the application. They’re a large part, but essays, SATs and such are arguably as important if not more, and ECs are the cornerstone of your application.
