Help with Social Problems

WARNING: RANT/WHINING ALERT!!!

Let me start by saying I'm a little socially awkward. I was a nerd in high school, and that kind of sent my self esteem spiraling downward. I went to a 2 year school, and I just transferred out to a 4 year. The problem is, coming in as a transfer, I had to jump in headfirst as a junior, and didn't get to go through the "getting to know you" freshman awkwardness. Also, with junior level classes, most of the friendship bonds have been formed, and it's starting to feel like the high school cliques that I thought I finally got away from are coming back. School has already been in for two months, and I'm a little worried that everything has "settled," and I'm stuck feeling like a loner (at least for this semester before classes change.)
Clubs are already formed, so that can't happen.
Is there anything I can do so I don't feel like such an outsider.

Put yourself out there and be outgoing, as a junior it won't all happen for you like if you were a freshman. Don't worry about being socially awkward and just be confident, people will notice if you have low self esteem or the like.

hang with other nerds.
