<p>Hello I am applying to Stanford and have come across a question asking about what my possible future occupations might be; would it look bad for me to list myself as undecided? Would it look better if I picked a certain job? Please help.</p>
<p>Pick whatever you want. No school (except for Cal and such that require you to choose a major) expects a 17 year old to know what he wants to do four or eight years from now.</p>
<p>I am not sure that you need to specify a specific occupation or line of work; it would probably be better to outline the types of activities & duties that you would like to do. For example, work in a profession where creative thinking is required, where assignments or cases vary from month to month, where research & analytical skills are required, where persuasive writing & oral argument are an integral part of the profession, where responsibility is placed squarely in my hands....</p>
