While people on CC may be willing to read a completed essay and offer comments and editing, no one is going to come up with ideas for you. Your essays have to come from your head, not anyone else’s. It’s inappropriate to ask.

The first supplement is how will AU help you reach your academic goals. You say AU is your top choice. Why is that? What about AU makes it your first choice? That may be where your answer lies.

When I was writing my supplements, I found that it is really easy to write a generic sounding essay about how great AU is, and how much of a wonk you are. Focus on specifics, avoid vague statements about how great you think the school is. Also, don’t be afraid to add humor.

I applied as a Poly Sci major, so I talked about the Campaign Management Institute and their highly ranked career center. Search the website or course catalogue for something specific to your interests to add to your essay. When I visited, I remember the rep saying that they wanted you to “research AU” for the supplementary essays. Show you know the school, and tell them why you want to attend.

Also, AU takes the SAT out of 1600, so not knowing your score out of 1600, there is really no way for us to know what your chances are. Supplementary essays are never very much fun. Good luck!

Is anyone having issues submitting the second of the mandatory questions? It said there was no word limit (just two paragraphs) but then it won’t let me enter over 250 words.

That happened to me too at the last minute… I had to cut it down to 250 words. Really annoying.
