Hi, I am applying to 9 schools (deadline January 1st)
I have already sent in my ACT w/ writing scores to:
Dartmouth
Harvard
Yale
Columbia
Brown
College of William and Mary
NYU
Tulane
But I understand that for Dartmouth and Harvard, i HAVE to send in SATII. The problem is I have an SATI score that isn’t as great as my ACT. Do I HAVE to send in all scores (SATI + SATII + ACT)?
For the other schools that are not Dartmouth and Harvard, can I just send my ACT and SAT II scores? I’m so confused.
I thought Harvard made subject tests optional? Anyhow I believe you can just send in SAT II scores - to make sure go onto the Collegeboard website and try doing that. I think you’ll have the option to tick only your subject test scores. They always make it very clear what you’re sending to each school so it’s worth a try.
Though Harvad arguably made subject tests optional, its rule is the strangest creation of ambiguity lthat exists. and essentially says tests are normally required unless for some reason like financial you could not take them, but even though normally required, you can choose not to send them because they are optional. That is a paraphrase but I think that about covers what Harvard actually says. And I among the many who really have no idea what Harvard’s rule actually is, but after reading Harvard’s rule I do know what academic gobbledygook is.
OP, the only college on your list that has an all scores rule is Yale and it requires either all ACTs, or, alternatively, all SATs and subject tests. If you send subject tests, you must also send all SATs. For any of the other colleges on your list, including Dartmouth and Harvard, you can send just ACT and subject tests.
