Help with the I-20 form (I'm an international prospective student)

Hey guys, it’s been a while
I’ve finally decided to attend UC Riverside because of the hefty scholarship they gave me. So I was filling out the I-20 form, which is basically a form that certifies my finances and other legal information, e.g. signature of funder and things like that.

I received a generous scholarship and my total cost will become about $10000 per year. However,on the I-20 form, it says that a minimum of $63000 dollars in funding is required to issue the I-20. Do I actually need to show that much money, because in the end I’ll end up paying only 10k per year.

P.S. I already contacted the university via the email they had on their website regarding any questions with the I-20 form. I haven’t heard back yet. What should I do?

You include the scholarship amount in your sources of funding. However, you must show that you can cover the difference between COA (as defined by your I-20) and that scholarship amount. It doesn’t matter if you can manage on a lower sum than tha COA - to get the visa you must show funding enough to cover COA.

Thank you so much. I’m also planning to stay with a relative, so my dorm fees will also become zero. Therefore, my cost of attendance will effectively become zero. Will that be an issue?

It’s not really an issue but you would attribute the living cost (not zero but the amount set out by the college) to the relative and the relative would have to sign something to that effect.
