Help With TN/KY Schools

We toured Hendrix this summer, and the tour and very informal info session lasted about three hours. Could certainly be done in less time, but our tour guide kind of went on and on.

So we had to whittle down the list. It was definitely a little too ambitious. We’re going for 3 days now and will only be able to visit Centre, Belmont and Rhodes. As it is there will be some extensive driving. We really wanted to see Hendrix but he will probably just apply and see what happens.

Youdon’tsay - What did you think of Hendrix?

Check out the college visits for Hendrix. I posted there. I’ll also PM you.

WarriorBoy: DD & I have been to Centre and Belmont and we have a tour scheduled for Rhodes in September. I’ll answer any questions about the area that I can.

There’s a Shaker village near Centre that serves up some amazing food. And if possible, take time to visit the Memphis zoo when you visit Rhodes (it’s next to the Rhodes campus).

RobD - Because Rhodes is only offering a morning tour, I had to schedule Centre on the first day which means that we will have to drive from Centre to Rhodes after our tour. Mapquest shows this as a 6 hour drive. Too much for me to handle after getting up at 4:00 to make a flight. Can you think of a location that would be about an hour/hour and a half from Memphis to stay overnight? Am I going to have to worry about rush hour traffic?

fireflyscout - thanks for the heads up… My son actually loves to go to the zoo.

Well, it’s about 3 hours from Memphis to Nashville and you’ll have to come back through Nashville to get to Memphis from Centre (I believe, I haven’t checked MapQuest.) I would probably try and get a little West of Nashville to make the next day’s drive a little more manageable. Jackson, TN would probably be an area to look for a hotel room. I-40 runs right through there and that will put you between Nashville & Memphis.
Hope that helps!
