I agree with Nan about putting distance courses on the homeschool transcript. Some colleges will require official transcripts from the distance courses in addition to the homeschool transcript. Others will save you money by not requiring the distance course official transcripts. My son also discovered that some colleges which required official distance transcripts with the initial application were fine with the homeschool version of those transcripts for mid-term reports.

no matter when it's done. I recommend that people start keeping records whenever their kids start on high school work, then they can put the four highest-level courses in each subject on the transcript. They can also do a check-off style transcript that allows multiple courses in each subject.

When you do either of these things, though, it's often better not to include a beginning date for high school, because you don't want it to look as if your student spent 6 years finishing!

Thanks so much for the input. It also had occurred to me that perhaps 6 years of high school looks "different" --except I decided that if you have a wide variety of courses--my daughter wants to try several languages in addition to theatre, music and other things. I thought to myself, you know, what's wrong with a longer high school as long as you were sequentially going ahead, and also increasing your knowledge laterally. I was thinking of all the different sciences, and even the different history classes, not to mention literature! If you think outside the box, why not have 6 years of high school? (Of course this wouldn't work in public school, but you know between the different distance courses available, you do have more variety than what would be available in one high school. You can also take college courses, and have them count as a high school course. (at least that) Thanks again!! Also, anyone have any experience with E Notes? (On line literature synopsis' of thousand's of books) You pay a membership fee for unlimited use. They just give you enough information to tempt you!!!
