Hi, I am an international student in some school not in the US. As weird as it gets, our counselor doesn't know what transcripts are, or what they contain, or how to make them. Please help me out! I have to submit transcripts to many good colleges, and I have no idea how to make them!

Please tell me their format and contents. And I wont mind a link showing a sample, if you happen to know one!

they contain the final grades you received for each class, organized by year, as well as your standardized test scores, class rank and weighted/unweighted GPA. sorry, but i don't know of any links... anyway, i hope this helps.

You can't make your own transcripts... I'm sorry, but your transcript needs to come from your school to be official.

Don't you get report cards? How do you know your grades from the past few years? If, for whatever reason, your school has no record of your progress at all, you need to email the schools you're interested in and ask what your options are.

@hopeslikeflowers: I am sorry that I couldn't make myself clear, but I don't intend to make transcripts myself. I just wanted to tell my counselor about transcripts so that she could make one for me! Of course, the transcript will be official.

We do get report cards, but I always thought transcripts were different. Our report cards only contain grades and some information about us, but nothing else. Would those suffice?

Okay this is what you've to do:
send your report card.
and along with it, send the other things that ppl mentioned (like GPA, standardized scores...these shd be written/signed by ur principal/guidance counselor by the way)

In e.g. Germany transcripts are not common, we get for each course we pass a certificate called "Schein".

So I wrote all transcripts myself and let them print at the Universities registrar's office on official notepaper. Think thats also the best way for you.

OK one final question. If a certain class takes two years in the completion (i.e., the course is 2 years long), then do I write the final grade which I received after the completion of the 2 years, or the grades I received on the ends of both years?

do you send transcripts by mail because I don't think that in my school it can be done online..If all I have is report cards do I photocopy them and have them signed again? or are original signatures ok?

I'll get my school to scan the transcripts, and upload them onto commonapp. And, yes, I was also wondering the same as you are! Any answers please?
