Hi, I’m currently working on my UMD transfer essay, the prompt is as follows:
“Please describe your past academic experiences and your reasons for wishing to enroll to Maryland at this point in your academic career. Students who have been out of school for several years, or who have a personal circumstance that affected performance, may wish to address that situation in their essay. Your essay should be no more than 300 words.”
I was wondering if I could get some tips on what colleges look for in transfer essays? To give some backstory of my reasoning for transferring, I have been dealing with on and off depression and bad anxiety at my school and have struggled to find my place on campus and make close friends, but the major reason for me transferring is that I currently go to school 8 hours from home and I want to transfer closer to home (UMD would be in-state for me). But beyond the social reasons, UMD is an amazing school and has an excellent program for my major so the academics are definitely another aspect.
