Help with URM and ED

Hey CC community,

Do many URMs apply ED?

How much leeway is given on both the SAT/ACT range and the GPA range for URMs?

How much does being URM and applying early decision to a school help in the admissions process?

There’s no hard and fast rule, inq001. Top schools want top applicants. Depends on the school and depends on how good the applicant is. Nothing is guaranteed. What schools are you targeting? What is your GPA, SAT/ACT?

^Agree.

And it also depends on your SES, which URM, first gen, underserved HS, overcome adversity, and other personal factors. An AI from a low income family living on a reservation is going to get more of a gpa & test score bump than a middle class AA or Hispanic from the burbs.

I think the conclusion really should be: Don’t bang on AA pulling through for you if you’re a less-than-top applicant :)
