I’m finishing up my application for USC which is due December 1st, and I’m currently working on their essay questions.
The second question is:
“Describe your academic interests and how you plan to pursue them at USC. Please feel free to address your first- and second-choice major selection.”
And here’s my response, with reference to my first-choice major of Animation and Digital Arts:
“I have been interested in animation for as long as I can remember. Childhood memories of being mesmerized by classic animated films, as well as more recent personal artistic pursuits, have shaped and evolved that interest into a passion. I have realized that also aiding in this is my attraction to the broad spectrum human personalities, emotions and idiosyncrasies, and the way in which human beings are able to relate to one another across the globe. Personally, it seems animation appeals to me in the same way; the idea of using my own unique methods of art and storytelling in order to form a personal connection with a vast number of people would be an ideal way for me to contribute to the world. With this in mind, I feel that chasing and developing this passion would be best achieved at USC. The world of animation is highly competitive and constantly changing in terms of demand; because of this, what USC’s School of Cinematic Arts offers within its programs – especially internship opportunities and professors with real-world experience – is exactly what I need in order to be successful, both now and in my future. I am completely dedicated to my passion for art and animation, and willing to further develop my interests; I feel confident that USC’s ability to shape successful students will help me to turn that dedication into a promising and exciting future.”
I’m just looking for some feedback in terms of anything I should take out or add, so any help is appreciated. Oh, and there’s a 250 word limit, and right now I’m at 234 words.
