I have to write a literary analysis on this this essay by Tocqueville and I have a few questions....What is actually the 'main point' of this essay?

Is it that Tocqueville emphasizes the importance of ancestors and how our society as a whole is falling into corruption because we have not adapted to and have not succumbed to the ways of our ancestors?

What will make a good attention getter for this essay? What literary devices can be used to further analyze this essay?]

How can I make this into a good essay? What good points can I add?

Thanks a Lot!

So far I have the following:

It is true that we learn from our ancestors and try to mold ourselves into exceptional human beings based off the people in our past. Just as we rely on our parents to inform us of the rights and wrongs, and rely on them for emotional and personal support, we rely on our ancestors and the people who have come before us for the same support. However, sometimes, the inheritance of mores does not carry out; As a result, we sway into corruption and ignominy. In his essay ''General Survey of the Subject,'' Tocqueville juxtaposes the contemporary society with the past and presents the latter as corrupted because of its inability to adapt to the mores of people of the past.
