I got waitlisted at my number 1 school, Tulane.

Work as a soccer ref and have a FT job, planning on volunteering this summer for Americorps.

I've having difficulty w/my letter. I'm trying not to come off pretentious or desperate, and having trouble finding a balance between "bragging" and voicing my love of the school. I have yet to visit due to time/financial constraints(live in PA). I know about the school from a friends brother and parents co worker.
If anyone could give me tips/read my rough draft I'd be very appreciative.
Thanks

anyone???

I’m struggling with waitlist letters as well. I feel like I’m just reiterating what I stated in Why____? essays on the app…

Add any updates-
but…most of all…tell them why your character traits fit their school (ex: highly motivated, driven, well rounded etc…and why they are number 1 to you.

Here are the definites.
Send two of the same letters. One to your regional admission officer who handles applications for your state. The other to the Dean of Admission. You dont know who will have the most influence in making the decision to take you off the waitlist.
Be sure to put a letterhead that you center in the middle so right away your name stands out. Underneath it put your address. On the line below that
include your contact number. Put your social security number below that.
(Begin your letter by saying by introducing yourself ie). My name, is _______ and I am a senior at the ____school, in state.
I was disappointed to learn that I was offered a place on the waitlist for the class of 2012. Although I was accepted to a number of wonderful schools, (Name of College) is my first choice. I will definitely attend (name of college) if accepted.
I feel I have many passions and talents to bring to the ____________
community (list your talents and accomplishments here and what you have
to bring to that school)
I look forward to hearing from you. It is my hope that I will be offered a place in the Class of 2012

Sincerely
