HELP!! - Yale Defered - Midyear Developments

Hey guys - I was defered to Yale EA , International Applicant from India & my sister went there too - I had a pretty good midyear report with straight A's (I had 2 B's earlier) and also won an award at Harvard Model UN in late January and my school won Best International Del so yeah! I also visited campus in early FEB after HMUN but theres a downside to all this : I gave my Physics SAT in Jan a few days after my exams and completely messed up - got a 740!! :( but YALE doesnt accept score choice - sort of worried that this would put me at a disadvantage cuz its not a very good score ( I had a 770 in SAT 2 Chem & 780 in Sat 2 MATH 2 earlier which Yale already has) - Let me know what you guys think - cuz i have to send the score anyway. Would love to get your take on my chances after a poor SAT Performance but decent MIDYEAR Developments on the Whole! Thanks!

740 isn’t poor.

You don’t have to send the score.

Let me put it this way.

As far as Yale is concerned, you have fulfilled all the SAT II requirements, and presumably (based on the fact that you did the Physics Subject test in January, and since the SAT I cannot be taken at the same time as the Sat II Subject test) you have also fulfilled the SAT I requirement.

Thus in terms of standardised testing, your application is complete. The January Physics test isn’t necessary at all.

The only situation in which your January test WOULD be necessary, is if your application was not complete, and you did two or more subject tests in January, THAT is when Yale’s no-score-choice would come into effect, as you would have to send all test you did in that sitting.

Basically how Yale’s policy concerning Score choice works is that: IF you send Yale any scores at all, you will have to send them all. But that doesn’t prevent you from not sending a sitting AFTER having fulfilled the basic requirements.

And a final thing: Quit acting so panicked over a 740. Get a grip. That’s not a bad mark by any means. Its tiring reading these continual insecure-but-fishing-for-compliments type threads.

but doesnt the yale website state that they would like ALL SAT Scores across all dates

& wouldnt they have some means of knowing if you dint send them a particular score?

Yes, but your PREVIOUS dates. They’re not policing the future, they just want a record of your past efforts.

Stop being paranoid. Like they have the energy, or care enough to check on the test taking habits of every student. If you’ve completed the SAT I and 2 SAT Subject tests, that’s it as far as they’re concerned.

alright - thanks!
