Rejected =/
SAT: 1840
UC GPA 3.8
SAT II: US History 630
Chemistry 540
EC: Link Crew Leader for two years, more than 100 hours total.
Rejected from UCSD, UCSB, Cal Poly, and UCD. Is this normal?? I thought I would get into at least one. Boise State is the only place I was admitted. My real question is what went wrong? Thanks guys =(

Cal Poly and UCSD… it goes without saying for your GPA and SATs. Are they good?.. yes. But students applying there have weighted GPA’s well above 4.0 and unweighted nearing 4. If I recall my research correctly, the Mean GPA for Cal Poly Engineering is 4.04 and a lot of the kids have SATs in the 2100 - 2300 range.

I can’t speak to UCSB and UCD… but I suspect you would have fallen into their “acceptance” range. Sorry it didn’t work out for one of these two schools.

One way to see how you compare to other students is to log onto CollageBoard and use their, “How Do I Stack Up” tool… shows where your GPA, High School Rank, SAT, and ACT are in comparison to the Freshman class of the previous year accepted into the colleges you applied to.

Also, don’t discount CSU’s… they are just as good or better than some UC’s, depending on the Major.

I’m sure you will enjoy Boise State… and don’t be hard on yourself. Good Luck. :)

the average GPA for incoming freshmen at UCD was 4.0 last year…

I’m in the same exact boat, except I was waitlisted at SB.
My stats: 3.83 UC, 28 ACT, and 1830 SAT (third sitting)
All I have is Embry-Riddle. Trying to find some universities that will accept applications this late, but it’s hard to get off the high horse. Incredible how I can be considered valedictorian at my high school but not be accepted to any college. I am writing an appeal based on some information I forgot, nothing left to lose.

yeah I think you should definitely try to appeal. I know a few friends who got into Davis by appealing.
