Well March was my first time taking the SAT and here are my scores:

CR: 590
Math: 500
Writing: 570

Total: 1660

Compared to the first time I took the ACT, which was in the fall, I scored the equivalent of one point higher (23 originally, 24 with converted SAT). I was wondering if it would be worth my time to retake the SAT. I live in Louisiana, and there is not much pressure placed on students to take the SAT--I was the only one from my school to have taken it this entire year. I'm also taking the ACT in about a week.

Any suggestions/tips? Math is also really what kills me. I feel fairly confident in CR and writing.

If there’s not much pressure on you and your peers to keep taking it, consider yourself lucky. Are these scores sufficient for the school you want to attend? If so, then pat yourself on the back and concentrate on other things.

If your favorite school seems like a big reach with these scores, there’s a lot you can do to improve. Start by taking and then very carefully reviewing a practice test…you’re looking to identify weak areas so that you can focus your preparation on the things that you need work on.

For example: if your biggest weakness is right triangles, study right triangles, not the whole math section.

Once you know what your mistake pattern is, there are lots of resources in these forums and elsewhere to help you fine-tune your technique.
