Help!

I know I shouldn't be repeating myself on posts, but I need to find out if I'm going to be retaking the SATs ASAP.

Here are my scores from my November SAT (first try):
Math: 770
CR: 800
Writing: 800
ESSAY: 10

SATII MathIIC: 800

My math balances out with my MathIIC so I'm not worried about that but there's that 10 essay that really REALLY annoys me because I know I can do better. My question is about whether or not I should retake it. My dream is to get into Stanford or Yale (I'm a junior right now). I'm also thinking about applying to one of those super-competitive 7-year med programs that are impossible to get into and that put a lot of emphasis onto a person's writing ability during the admissions process (they also have a 5% acceptance rate already).

I don't know if I'm capable of getting another two 800s again, but it's just that it's a 10 and I know a lot of schools like the essay portion (such as the UCs which are the reason they changed the SAT anyways and to which I am definitely applying to). Then again, I don't wanna seem overly number-oriented by retaking a 2370 (which is pretty much a dream come true except for that essay score). Any ideas?

Please tell me you are kidding.... Your SAT scores are FINE, for ANYWHERE. Don't worry about a 10 on the essay. The 800 is really what they care about anyways.

I thought colleges looked at the essay scores separately or even read the essay itself. Am I mistaken?

Even if they do look at the essay, it isn't like it's your college essay. That's what matters. And also, remember that you aced the SAT on the whole. And also remember that colleges aren't 100% sure about the new SAT yet anyway. You're ok!

don't retake it!!! a lot of the top colleges really don't care much about the essay or the writing section. they'll judge your writing by application essays, not the sat one. trust me, the admission officers aren't going to reject you just because two sat people decided to give you a 10, not a 12.
congrats on the amazing scores!

sigh...an SAT score 30 points shy of being perfect should not be retaken. Your scores are perfectly fine and your essay score is excellent, how can you say a 10 is worry? Furthermore the SAT essay does not have that much weight, it is only used to verify your writing capabilities shown from your college app essays. I would worry more about taking 1 or 2 more SAT II Subject Tests, like a science and humanity.
