I want to get in to UC Davis but my grades and SAT scores are not ideal to the school. (I'm not stupid, just lazy). I will most likely not get in to Davis; despite my extra curricular activities and outside-of-school work; and I want to become a veterinarian. So here's my question: If I don't get in to Davis the first time, should I do my undergrad at another UC and just graduate BS Bio OR should I go to community college for two to three years and apply for a transfer (Davis takes priority to Community College students)??

Also, is there anything I can do or add to my application that would increase my likelihood of acceptance the first time?

if you’re talking a uc “less prestigious” than davis, e.g. riverside or merced, then i would definitely, definitely go the community college option. the transfer rate is just huge. pretty much guaranteed, if you do well - i’m in the davis area and i know many people who’ve done the community college -> ucdavis route. you’d save a ton of money, and, of course, if you want to be a vet davis is unbeatable.

but you might be surprised at your chances for davis…can you post stats

If you want any chance at becoming a vet, you better fix that “just lazy,” no matter what college you wind up at. Vet school may be the most competitive professional school option, and lazy undergrads have no chance.
