I mistakely wrote that I got 1st place in Science Olympiad Massachusetts state competition for 2004. Reviewing my EA pdf file, I noticed this. Since I got 2nd place and must have mixed up years (in 2003 I got 1st), will this detriment my application? A friend of mine told me this is an automatic rejection since I was dishonest, even though I didn't mean to be dishonest. I was wondering if MIT will notice and what I should do.

Can they (or do they) really check all the stuff?

hmm, it's possible that they have already made a decision on your application for EA, but if this is really eating at you then i would call the admissions office and tell them that you made a mistake on the awards section of your application.

If you're worried about it, just send an email with the details to admissions@mit.edu. They will correct the mistake in your folder for you. But it sounds like an honest mistake, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Do you think they've already rejected me [:(]? If the admissions office noticed, surely they would reject me, right? If I wrote to them would they probably reconsider my application?
