Okay so I want to go into finance/investment banking and I want to apply to a school that will give me opportunities to break into the field. I really dont care where I go, I can fit in anywhere. Would it make that big of a difference for me to apply ED? Like is there a better chance, or significantly better, of me getting into Wake if I applied early? I just want to get into a well-respected school, plus admissions is rolling so I can find out very soon. Thanks guys!

Also, what other schools should I be looking at (realistically) with my stats?

My brother-in-law and sister both graduated from Columbia around 2 or 3 years ago and both got in to fields related to finance. She was consultant, helped run a start-up business in washington dc that did well, and now quit her job and does what she wants while living in london (she works like one day a week at a bakery because she did well at her other jobs…how unfair) and I think he may be an investment banker. It’s a great college all around. It’s worth checking out. I’d apply if I thought I even had a chance at all (with my us gpa of 3.4 I’m not the brilliant mind my sister is).

Richmond doesnt look at scores (and in fact doesnt count them if you have a Bplus average), so depending how low your unweighted gpa is you should probably be a good ED candidate there. You can always do ED2 to Wake

NYU Stern? Not actually sure how selective they are. UMich Ross is a good school to look at, UVA Darden as well. They’re actually very well represented on Wall Street.

@Kendall- I would apply but realistically, there is no chance. People always say “oh with ivies you never know”, yeah I’m fairly sure haha.

@mhmm I don’t think I would want to ED at Richmond since its ranked much lower in the investment banking world than other schools (my cousin at Lazard told me this)

@entity well, firstly Darden is graduate haha…

Spoken from experience - Richmond is a hot hot hot college for B average kids from NYC whose parents are primarily in the investment world. Wake is generally thought to lag behind. Again, this is the East Coast (NYC) point of view and you should thoroughly research placement office sites of both schools

Well in my mind, if you are saying that you are looking at Wake for ED, I would definitely check out Richmond for it as well. But again, if your main criteria is to go to the best school that you can get into that will take you into IB, then identify several and thoroughly research their placement office.

What’s your Unweighted?
If you can get higher than a 2100 on the October SAT then you should be a slight reach for UVA. McIntire is a target for banks.

Well I’m instate so if my SAT was that high I think I would be more than a slight reach, given the average isn’t that high. Then again, I barely know what reach/match means…hahaha
