Hey guys, I'm kinda scared right now. I was being obsessive and going through the e-mails I got from Yale...and I just re-read that e-mail notification we got saying that the application had been received (from like Nov 1st). I noticed a mention of a postcard...is it a problem I never got one. I got that blue sheet and had an interview, but never got this postcard, saying my application was 'complete.' I'm kinda freaking out right now...any help would be great. Thanks!

I haven't received that either. A lot of people are just now getting them on the east coast, so I'm going to have a few more days before I panic.

ok i guess ill give myself a few more days, being a fellow east-coaster. what does the postcard mean though...that they've finished going through the application?

hmm ok, i guess WY isnt in the east coast. i see what you meant. haha, ok so maybe i should worry.

Apparently all it says is "We've received your application. Everything's probably here, but if it's not we'll let you know."

The postcard:

Dear Applicant,

With this postcard we acknowledge receipt of the admissions documents needed to review your application to Yale.

We assume that we will receive, or have already received, official copies of your standardized test scores either on your high school transcript or directly from the testing agency. If you asked that your scores be reported to Yale, you should assume that we will have them.

It is not necessary to call or write to us to check on the completeness of your file. We will contact you or your school if we need any further information. Thank you for your interest in Yale.

The Yale Admissions Office

I want one :(

dtown, when did you get that? im just thinking that even if I get such a notification in the next 10 days before decisions are out, it would be pretty useless.

I'm on the east coast and I only got mine yesterday. Besides, the postcard is pretty useless...it doesn't even tell you for sure that they have everything, just that "you should assume that we will have [everything]" and that they'll contact you if there's a problem. The fact that it was useless, however, didn't stop me from reading it 19 times from start to finish because, hello, it's from YALE :p

And I looooove Vonnegut ;)

I got mine yesterday, and I'm in the south

I'm on the east coast, as well. I can't remember when I received it, but it's postmarked November 9.

i'm in north carolina and i got mine almost a month ago

they did, however, e-mail my counselor last week because the postman... or they lost one of my recommendations and my supplemental acting resume. i got it all faxed off the next day, but it kind of irritated me that i got a postcard saying that i had sent in everything and then several weeks later, they tell me that they are missing a recommendation...

so this postcard doesnt seem to be all that different from the blue sheet because it also says 'we will notify you if any necessary documents are missing.' i mean its the 5th and i havent been notified of any missing parts, so should i assume everything is okay, postcard or not? im really thinking ill just call tomorrow and settle this. and yeah, displacednewyorker, that is annoying. im glad you got everything taken care of though.

Yeah, you should just assume they have all of your stuff. I wouldn't bother calling, just because the postcard says that it's not necessary to call them. If you haven't gotten the postcard, you have nothing to worry about.

hey guys....
are u all living in the States? I am a overseas applicant and well...I've not gotten mine and I've been checking the mailbox everyday so frantically for signs of it....is it really ok not to worry about it? It's already the 6th here and they're gonna mail out the decision pretty soon...argh...I'm going crazy!

Yay! I got my postcard!!!!

Black_rim, don't worry. The postcard just says that they've gotten something and they assume they've gotten everything. Lack of postcard is nothing to worry about.

thanks dtown...its just that it feels like one of those things that made everything look a little bit more hopeful, hahha...not getting one seems like an implicit signal that I can't get it...sigh~oh well...shall try to not think about it anymore! :)
