Help!

Hello. I am currently a junior and I am getting into the well-known struggle of finding a college. The only place I have in mind so far is Emerson, but I realize I need to apply to more than one college. Here are my stats...

Black/Male
North Carolina
GPA: 4.1(W)/3.7(UW)
PSAT: 670V/630M/610W (Took the SAT on Jan. 28)

CURRENT AP'S:
Macroeconomics
Psychology
Statistics

Extracurriculars:
CHORUS:
-Freshman and Sophomore years.
-National Youth Choir @ Carnegie Hall
-Small-Audition Ensemble.
-Mixed Chorus

BAND:
-Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years.
-Pep Band
-Marching Band (Section Leader)
-Symphonic Band
-Tri-County Honors Band
(GO BARITONES!)
I'm pretty sure I'll be drum major next year.

OTHERS:
-Mock Trial, 11th (Received "Best Witness" Award @ Competition)
-Brain Game, 10th (Academic Game Show in NC for 9th and 10th)
-Interact, 11th (Will probably be the president next year)
-Attended HOBY (going back this summer to be junior staff)

I also founded an organization, Advocate Student Group. We raise money to help fund poverty relief in Haiti, with our primary focus being and AIDS Orphanage there.

HONORS:
Venture Scholar
Who's Who...
National Honor Society
Kodak Young Scholar Award
National Honor Roll
(pretty much the usual)

I am interested in majoring in something in/around the field of marketing. I'm not rich, but the cost isn't really a factor. Although, a scholarship would be more than welcome. I'm not sure what else to mention, but if you have any questions just let me know.

**Tidbit: I'm generally interested in small schools in big cities, but all suggestions are welcome.

WHERE DO I BELONG? :)

Hello.
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?

You have to comment now...it's Pink Floyd!

uhh......nod

Only because I like Pink Floyd, especially Comfortably Numb ;)

Good shot at Emerson, decent/good PSATs, Gpa and E.C.s. I would be surprised if you didn't get in.

Can you guys tell me good fits/safeties/reaches?

Emerson is probably a safety for you

Look at Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Duke as reaches

UNC CH would be a safe match

Isn't UNC CH much harder to get into than Wake Forest?

Anywho, Keep'em coming!

your in state, so no its not at all

Case Western is a relatively small school in a big city (Cleveland) and would likely give you money, but I don't know about going there for marketing. That would be a match for you, maybe a safe match.

Thanks all who have posted...

More responses would be great...this is my life, people!

no more?:(

Here's a bunch of schools that would probably be slight reaches and matches:

Kenyon
Connecticut College
Boston College
University of Richmond
Univ. of Rochester
NYU
Lehigh
Case Western
University of Michigan
Trinity
Bucknell
UCLA
U of NC, Chapel Hill
Dickinson College
Gettysburg College
Lafeyette
Franklin and Marshall
College of NJ
Sarah Lawrence
Union
Skidmore
U of C San Diego
Syracuse

Don't know what your looking for, but the list includes big univerisities, small liberal arts colleges, colleges in urban, suburban, and rural settings etc.

final bump

above list...

bump those sats over 2000 and you could apply to ivy league schools...

bob...are you serious?

I lied...bump

im dead serious man...youre a black male from NC. affirmative action is alive and well in colleges and so I could definitely see you getting into a great school (northwestern, emory, cornell, ext) if you can bump your SAT score above 2000. A black girl in my school got into Princeton this year early decision and without legacy with a 1950...it happens.

thanks! that gives me a lot of hope.

UCLA: Reach (out of state)

big reach?
