<p>Your teachers might be helpful. My son’s Physics teacher lent him some textbooks and was helpful with the school administration that was reluctant to sign my son up for Physics C and Stat tests since the school doesn’t offer those courses. By the end of junior year, he will have taken 8 AP tests, 4 of them in courses the school doesn’t offer. It can’t hurt to ask; teachers are usually delighted that you are interested in their subject and will help you in whatever way they can.</p>

Re your FYI2, is there a way to get “fair weight” for the self-study APs? Does being a National AP Scholar junior year carry any weight? My son did it because he’s interested in the subject matter, but benefit on the application couldn’t hurt.</p>

<p>Self study is not as valuable is class taught. so, it is “fairly” weighted. I’m sure they will take it into account (as self taught).</p>
<p>If you want it on a transcript, then arrange for independent study at your HS (and they give you a grade), or take it from the local community college.</p>
