Hi, I'm in Grade 11 currently. Here are the subjects I plan to complete by the end of my 12th.

11th -
1) AP Biology
2) AP Chemistry
3) Honors Physics
4) Honors Pre-Calculus
5) Honors English 11th

12th -
1) AP Physcis
2) AP Calculus
3) AP Statistics
4) Honors English 12th

I'm currently studying in Singapore and moving over the USA this Sept. I also plan to take the SAT subject tests for Mathematics Lvl 1&2, Phy, Chem, Bio.

I'm sure I will do well in Mathematics and Science but my only concern is my English. I have been maintaining a GPA of 4.0

Recently I wrote my SAT and got a composite score of 1730 (R 390, M 800, W540 Essay 6)

Could u all please help me arrange my courses for 11th and 12th better? and suggest me ways to improve my English?

Here are some tips:

1) Don’t take both the Math I and Math II SAT Subject Tests; they cover much of the same material so it’s a waste of money and studying time, and colleges will wonder why you didn’t just take Math II.

2) You’re going to need a much higher SAT to go to a good school (which you clearly care about, based on your concerns and 4.0 GPA). I recommend you study your butt off learning English, as you need at LEAST a 2000 SAT to get into a good college in the US, and at least a 2200 to go to a top university.

3) Do you know for sure that the American high school you’ll be attending will have all those AP classes? If so, that’s good, it’s a solid course load.

4) In terms of learning English, you’ll probably garner the best results from a private tutor or an English class at a local college, but if you don’t want to or can’t afford to shell out the money for that, your high school might have an English Language Learners (ELL) program–or, failing that, you could get Rosetta Stone-esque language learning software.

Good luck in your studies, and welcome to the US! :)

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate your response. A couple more ques to ask -

I plan to take AP Statistics as well. Which year should I include that in? Also is it mandatory to take subjects of any of the social sciences (history, geography etc?)

Yup the high school i will be attending has all the courses available. Are these courses the
Prerequisites for medical?

Which college are u in btw? Im feeling really worried about my future! I need guidelines so that im in track!

Yup the high school i will be attending has all the courses available. Are these courses the prerequisites for medical?

High school classes are not prereqs for med school. In the US, students go to college for four years, and THEN go to med school. The prereqs are taken in college, not high school. If you use AP credits, then you have to take the “next higher” courses in college to satisfy med schools.

Are you a US citizen? If not, then it’s not likely you’d be accepted to a US MD med school.
