Khalid, thousands and thousands of students pay the College Board’s fees every year by credit card. The company wouldn’t stay in business very long if they committed credit card fraud! Besides, providing the security code is very common when business is conducted on line. So long as you’re dealing with a well-known organization, there is no risk.

means if I gave them the security code. They won’t gonna draw out more than the fees of the test?

Of course not.

You don’t have to fear that legit businesses are going to do this. Even if a company ever did over-charge you, all you have to do is call your credit card company and notify them of the false charge, and they’ll remove the charge.

You will also have to use credit card to pay the application fees to the various colleges.

They could, but they don’t. If they do, you can dispute the charge with your credit card company.

I’m in a similar situation, apart from the location of course. Actually, most of the Ivy League schools will offer to pay all your fees if you are accepted, so an education in the US doesn’t have to be so expensive (though Cornell doesn’t seem to be as generous for international students). Also, financial aid for them is need-based, so they tend not to have athletic scholarships. The best thing to do is check out the financial aid pages on the websites of the universities you’re interested in or contact them directly.

They could charge the card even without the security code. That code just proves you have the card in hand when you post the numbers online.

I actually believe all of you. But my parents are still worried about it. Does anybody knows other way for payment?

I do not know of any other way to pay to register for the SAT.

Why do your parents even have a credit card if they are so afraid to use it with reputable orgranizations? Do they use it at all? If they only use it in person at stores or restaurants, any store could set something up to intercept credit card numbers if they were dishonest. In the old days when cards were pressed over a carbon copy receipt employees could and did steal credit card numbers. That’s no more secure than this. Is this an internationally recognized credit card?

So the only way to pay is just credit cards?

We have been doing payments to the College Board since 1999. We have always used a credit card.

Think of it this way…YOU are worried about using a credit card. If you use a check or bank check (not even sure that is possible since you have to pay when you register…and you register online) the check could get lost in the mail…and the College Board would, have to wait Until the check clears to process your registration (which for an international bank…could take DAYS).

Send the college board an email. Use the Contact Us link. Ask if there is ANY way to pay without using a credit card. They will respond to you.

Ask if you can pay by bank wire transfer. Your bank would send the money to their bank electronically. Ask your bank what it charges to send money this way.

I don’t know their bank’s account to send them the test fees?

Khalid…send the College Board an email and see if they take wire transfers. If they do…they will give you the information.

Ask your parents to help you with this. They would have to arrange the bank transfer. You can’t do it yourself.

Right…YOU can’t do a bank transfer. You’re not AUTHORIZED to do that. Only your parents. Your parents could later deny the debit because THEY didn’t initiate it.

Your parents need to decide whether they want you to apply/go to college in the US…or not. IF they do, then they’ll have to understand that there will be MANY instances where various payments will be made by credit card over the years.

I sent them email and they told they will reply me within 2 dasy. But I don’t have that time. Because today is the last day for registration. And There’s November test, if I couldn’t register for the October test and I registered for november test is that going to reduce my chances for finding college that offers scholarships?

Then this is the conversation that you need to have with your parents. Hundreds of thousands of students take the SAT and pay by credit card. They have to trust the system. They have to also consider that bank transfer fees can be extremely expensive and if they are willing to incur the expense (I would think not if you state that $$ is an issue).

Yes And I did but they don’t have Visa,Master Card, etc. They got only normal bank credit card?

how can someone who don’t have visa, maste rcard, or others pay for the test?
