Help

Right now I'm a freshman at a state school in Massachusetts. I did poorly in high school (2.5) gpa) but am getting great grades in college (3.7-8 gpa). I haven't declared my major, but my dream job is comedy writing for TV. I know Emerson has a major specifically for that, but I don't know I'd get accepted or if its a smart move to pursue that career. I think I have talent, but I don't know for sure because I've never formally tried it. I was the captain of the football team in high school. I know that can help with admission sometimes. Can someone help me out?

Hi speaker, you can’t open 4 threads with the exact same question.

How much can your family afford to pay? As a transfer, you’d be unlikely to receive much if any money from Emerson.
As for career, go for that major but have a back up major, too.

Also, it’s just the beginning of Fall semester: you need to keep those grades up through Febrayr/March so that you can apply as a transfer.

Yeah sorry I just really want an answer. My parents are going to pay around 25,000 a year at the most. The tuitions like 32. Do you know anything about how strict Emerson’s admissions are?

Emerson would expect you to have a 3.5+ in college (3.0 minimum). The problem is that financial aid is more limited and you still need to take the SAT or the ACT unless you have 60 college credits. If you attended one of these community colleges you would likely qualify for a Next Step scholarship:
Borough of Manhattan Community College (NY)
Bristol Community College (MA)
Broward College (FL)
Bunker Hill Community College (MA)
Massasoit Community College (MA)
Miami Dade College (FL)
Montgomery College (MD)
Nassau Community College (NY)
Onondaga Community College (NY)
Roxbury Community College (MA)
Santa Monica College (CA)

They have a Phi Theta Kappa scholarship too (for members of the academic society).
