Hello,

I'll like to know if I can use Financial Aid to pay for ESL Classes.
Queens College has an English Language Institute and I'm interested in enrolling. Can I use Financial aid to pay tuition

Will you be a matriculated student seeking a degree? Will you be taking more than a half time course of study? That is what financial aid can be used for.

If this is a class so that you can learn English…it is not likely that college financial will be able to be used. However, you should call the school and see if there is any aid for this program.

I was educated outside the U.S. So they recommended me to take English Courses. I was researching and I found that Queens College has an English Language Institute. But after I take the classes I plan to attend to college seeking for a degree

If you are not enrolled in a degree seeking program, you cannot use college financial aid to pay. Since the English course of study is NOT part of your college degree program, I don’t think you can use college aid funding to pay for it.

Call the school, and ask.

Are you a U.S. citizen or permanent resident?

Thumper is right, since ESL is not part of the degree program, you cannot use financial aid to pay for it.

My sister did not score high enough on her Toefl test when she was accepted to college and she had to take ESL for one quarter as a condition of her acceptance to college. She had to pay out of her own pocket.
