I'm really nervous. Last cycle I got deferred with a 26 ACT and a 3.1/3.3 GPA. I was devastated because FSU is my number one choice. I know my GPA falls well below their average and my scores are teetering on the edge of average. However these last two quarters I got all A's and I know my GPA will go up at least a little. The thing is, my first year of high school I had no honors or AP classes. I did terribly that year because everyone around me was doing a lot worse so I thought I was doing really well in comparison to them. Sophmore I became a B-average student, and eventually got almost all A's with two B's all of my junior year. I brought up a GPA in the 2 's to a 3.1/3.3 and now in my senior year I'm taking AP Lit, AP Macro, AP Govt, IB Bio, AP Art History, Dual Enrollment College Algebra, and pre-calculus honors. It was the absolute most rigorous course I could take and I got straight A's(except one B in College Algebra). I'm retaking the ACT, but I'm not sure if I'll go up more than one point. What do you think my chances are?

Just wondering, are you an IB Diploma candidate? Also, did you have any grades below a C in your freshman/sophomore years?

No I’m not, I was just able to be in that class because we didn’t have an AP Bio and my guidance counselor knows I’m really serious about trying my absolute best to get into college. I did get one D in spanish 2 :(

Generally, if you get a grade below a C, you basically get automatically deferred for FSU. It’s mostly to make sure that your grades don’t dip that low again, especially if you have an otherwise stellar profile.

The odds are good that you will end up being accepted before the March decision date, especially if the only reason that you were deferred was for a D in Spanish 2.

Thank you for your help and input. I really hope I get accepted, but I guess all I can really do now is wait!
