So i just got back my SAT score today, and i am really really really disappointed
I got an 1840
This is absolutely horrible because I was aiming for a 2100 and my score is just really average :(
I am a junior right now and this is my first sat score, i plan on taking the ACT in september.
I have a 4.0 gpa, in three AP classes and I also do bunch of extracurriculars but somehow i feel like this one sat score will ruin all my chances of getting into a good college ( Pennstate)
Any advice?

You didn’t give a break down but it is certainly not “horrible.” An 1840 actually would be above average for Penn State-even CP, the most selective. You have the whole summer to study and you can absolutely raise your score in the fall. Did you do prep this time? Good luck.

Did you do any studying? If not, then of course your score won’t be as high as it could be
Do strategic studying, focusing on the areas that show you need improvement, for your next test.
However, you’ll probably be fine for Penn State with that score.

Im sorry, here’s the breakdown:
CR - 590
Math - 610
Writing - 640
( essay - 10)

Thank you for the advice, yes i’ll definitely retake it in the fall this year along with trying the ACT.
I just feel like this is a pretty bad score for my first time though
