HELP

Okay, so I recently took ACT practice test, from the official act site. On English i got 46/75, math 22/60, science 21/40, reading 30/40. In the back of the book it says to add all your scores then divide by 4, which comes out to 29.75. So im under the impression i got a 30? Im questioning this because 1) to me these are low raw scores 2) i graded these scores with a mcgraw hill book and got the result of 20/21 i dont remember which one.. Someone PLEASE tell me how to properly grade this. I am freaking out if i did get a 20. I will be so disapointed:(. And also, do different books grade practice tests differently?

You need to convert your raw scores to scaled scores. Usually, official ACTs have a table at the back that show you how to scale. Another, less accurate, measurement is to multiply how many you got right by 36 then divide by the total number of questions. Do that for all four sections, and then add them up and divide by 4.
And generally, no, different books are usually just attempts to simulate the ACT so their grading procedures try to do the same. With that said, many books - McGraw-Hill in particular - are very generous with their scales.

Using the scaled score table on the 2014-15 practice test on the ACT website, you got a score of 21. Sorry. /:
