Expected family contribution 014130. Does this mean my family is likely to pay $14,130 for my college. Or what the college will expect them to pay.

Schools will expect you to come up with that amount. Some schools calculate their own expected contribution. Some schools guarantee to “meet need” (according to their definition of need) and will make up the difference through grants and work study and often federal loans up to $5,500 for freshman year. Some schools offer merit scholarships that can reduce that EFC. And others will charge more than the EFC, because they do not have available scholarship money for everyone who has need (just like car dealerships cannot reduce their price for every customer who cannot afford the purchase price of a car).

Yes at least that much. If COA is greater than the EFC.

at LEAST that amount…usually you have to pay MORE…a LOT more.

Schools that “meet need” use CSS Profile, so they may expect your family pay a LOT more.

How much will your parents pay each year?

Brown will NOT use FAFSA to determine what aid Brown will give you. Brown will use CSS Profile.
