Help!

aguo, i understand and empathize with your dilemma. i myself have grown up in the bay area for my whole life, and i thought that going off to college meant moving to LA (a place that i basically refer to as my "second home" because i visit it so much and find it such a fascinating place). yet, when the last few days of april rolled around, i felt my decision sway towards Cal, even though i was initially repulsed by the idea of spending ANOTHER four years in northern california, with all our rain and what not. but then i realized, i have the rest of my life to live anywhere else. berkeley is going to open doors for you, me, and everyone else, if we work hard and play our cards right--that can enable our DREAMS to come true. when i sincerely contemplated and weighed my options thoroughly, i realized there really was no reason for me to turn away the excellence that is cal. and seriously, you tell people that you are going to berkeley and you are met with astonishment. its such a richly diverse place that has so much to offer. and you know, you might even want to go home every once in awhile to escape dorm food (though i heard its not that bad actually) ;-)

Hey collegebound, wow, I didn't know someone else who went through the EXACT same thing. I was REALLY UCLA for the longest time too, but I started doubting my decision towards the end of April. But yeah, right now I am really happy about going toBerkeley!

i chose ucla over cal, but now i'm trying to appeal to see if i can go to cal, since i had originally submitted a SIR to them, but withdrew it to submit to ucla.

I'm from LA. I can tell you all about it. It's like eating good food all of the time. It just gets tiresome. Also, I don't think girls quite live up to their reputations.

aguo, i know exactly how you feel!! i had the hardest time choosing between UCLA and Cal....it was seriously the hardest decision ive had to make so far. UCLA was also my #1 choice for the longest time...until i actually got into berkeley.
As may 1 drew nearer, i started to write la and cal on little pieces of paper and randomly draw them (btw, thats not how i ended up making my decision). In the end, I just felt that Berkeley was more culturally diverse and i would become more open minded at cal. Also, when I went to Cal Day, i loved the energy of all the students.

Hey Beargal, ME TOO! I RESORTED TO FLIPPING COINS AND DRAWING PIECE OF PAPER OUT OF A HAT. I was UCLA for the longest time, BUT THEN CAL DAY CAME ALONG AND I LOOOOOOVED CAL!

Alow, how come you don't want UCLA anymore? What makes you want Cal now?

THANKS EVERYONE...You guys have made me really like Cal now!
