Help!!!

Hello. I have a problem. About 5-6 weeks ago I gave a school report to my guidance counselor and told her not to send it because I was going to do a paper application. On Dec 13th I went to her and told her I will be done with my essays in about 7 days but she said Dec 13 th is the last day a secretary accepts transcripts which are supposed to be sent before Christmass. I asked her if she cant wait until Tuesday morning and she said yes. When I got home I decided I will do online app - I didnt want to hurry with my essays. I went to her on Tuesday before school and asked her to mail my transcripts with school report. Later that day she told me that a secretary said she does not guarantee that it will be sent before Christmass because I was one day late. I asked her this today and she said that they wont send my transcripts before - but they can do it after New Years - after deadline. The reason they say is that I told them to send it one day after their deadline (Tuesday before school)(I didn't know about this deadline- did not hear the announcment)What am I supposed to do? I do not want to be rejected just because they will send my school reports with transcripts after deadline. And I wonder why:
she did not give this school report to secretary earlier so everything would be ready and she could send it right away, how much difference does it make if I would tell her to mail it at 3pm on Monday and 7.40 on Tuesday (I dont think she does it at home), and why does the school make its own deadlines - if they need time - why dont they hire more people? I feel really sad - I wanted to go to Princeton very badly :( or even try to apply... and now everything is ruined. Please, can anyone give me an advice?

It's not a big deal. Your stuff is supposed to be on-time.. not the rest of the stuff. You can't very well control your teacher recs, school recs etc. They'll accept it a bit late.

Yeah, seriously. Don't freak out, man. Heh. It'll be okay. As long as the main application arrives by the deadline, all is well. If RD is like ED, they'll send out a card if anything's missing. Calm down...breathe....theeeere ya go...that's better now, isn't it? Alrighty then.

Wow, that's an unfortunate situation. Perhaps you can informally appeal to the principal/headmaster's sense of fairness and ask him or her to intervene on your behalf. If you simply can't persuade them to mail it out on time, follow through on the rest of the application as if nothing was wrong. After all, I doubt that Princeton will throw your entire application in the trash if one component -- one that is not even completed by you -- is received a few days late. They spend a lot of money on PR to get kids to apply, and I'd bet they are loathe to intentionally reduce their application totals.

I turned in my recommendations personally a week late because my teacher was out of town.. They said don't worry and i turned it in.... I got in, so don't worry.

Are you guys sure? cuz on the school report it says that the deadline is January 2nd so I think they have to get it before that date too.

Definitely don't worry about it...they don't start looking at the apps until later (they're still going to be waiting for the january SAT tests)...you're stuff has to be in on time...the other stuff can come in a bit late

Yes we're sure. We just got through going through this. Don't sweat it. Just get it in ASAP, like hobbes said :)

haha it doesnt matter. a lot of the stuff gets lost in the mail anywas and people are given a second chance a few months after the deadline =D dont sweat it boy
