Help?

Hello! I’m only a sophomore in highschool however I’m starting to look into college and prices for the future. I know I want to get my bachelors and then go to get my masters. I’m very confused about college debt, loans, and how it’s even possible to pay back so much money. Are there ways to defer payment until after you graduate from your grad school? How do people pay off that much money? Really any help I’m thankful for. I’m very confused about the process, how to get aid, etc. if you know of any books I can read to inform myself, that would be helpful as well. Thank you!

How much do you intend to take out on loans? You, the student. Can only take $27,000 TOTAL for the four years in your name only. For,freshman year…the amount is $5500.

How much can your parents contribute towards your college costs?

You have not taken the SAT or ACT yet…so there is no way to give you any advice yet about possible merit aid possibilities.

There is a great book called “Paying for College Without Going Broke” which might be a good start for you.

You shouldn’t borrow much because, you’re right, it’s hard to pay back that much money.

Get the best grades and test scores that you can and try to find affordable schools. The truth is that most kids commute from home to a local state school or CC because they can’t afford pricey schools.

You can only borrow $5,500 as a freshman anyway.

Talk to your parents about how much they’ll pay each year.

what is your home state, and what do you want to study?

I’m planning on attending UCF. My parents are contributing nothing, which really sucks.

My home state is Flordia, I’m planning on studying psychology and then going to OT school

FL has Bright Futures funding for in-state schools. http://www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org/ssfad/bf/
