What would I major in if I wanted to become a senator or something in politics? I was thinking political science but wasn't sure if that was right. Also, could you list some good schools for the major you suggest. Thanks!

If you want to be a staffer, get a poli sci degreee

If you want to get elected to something. Study something that will help you be a productive memeber of society. Acommplish something, make a payroll, raise a family, have a clue and then run for office.

Regan doubled in sociology and econ, but most professional politicians go to law school so you should be think about that too. Business school wouldn’t be a bad idea either.

reagan sux

Yeah, definitely business or law school. Then again, you can be an MD like Frist....

Try to make a lot of money first, then run for Senate

Want to go into politics? Pro-football, movie star, doctor, lawyer, rich kid with no business skills...the only thing these have in common is a high profile job and a high salary with high salaried contacts.

yeah, you have to MONEY and A LOT of connections. That's politics.....

But seriously...political science places:
George Washington University, Georgetown, American University immediately come to mind....go to college board and do a search for political science majors then narrow down the geographic areas you want, etc.

Philosophy (ten char)

West Point, Annapolis, or ROTC.

Truman - Army officer

Carter - Navy officer
Reagan - Army officer
Bush - Navy officer
Clinton -
Bush - Air National Guard officer

Only 3 of these guys were lawyers (Nixon, Ford, Clinton). I know you didn't mention being President, but this gives you an indication of how valuable a military background is.
