Help!!!

I am really sorry to bother people about my situation, but I sincerely appreciate any help I can get.

A little about me. First year, attended an ivy league school (to protect my identity, it is one ranked between 10-15 on us news, so that leaves cornell or brown). First semester was a lil tough, only got 3.6 gpa, taking less than 15 credits, and then second semester, picked it up close to a 4.0 over 17 credits with calculus and spanish. My gpa for the yr was good, a 3.8 gpa. However, with that said, I wasn't happy at my ivy league, so I put in a # of transfer aps. I did 4 reaches, and 4 match types. I got into all 4 matches, including Rice, Wash U, Chicago, Northwestern. The Reaches, all ranked within US News top 10, i got waitlisted at 2 and rejected by 2. I didnt apply to stanford, yale, or harvard.

B/C I just couldnt stand going back to my first yr school, I decided to transfer, but feel really apathetic/indifferent about my transfer school. I am transferring to one of the match schools, which took me forever to decide on (Northwestern). As of now, I feel like I am making a mistake transferring. There is little I can do now. But, I would like to rectify the situation this upcoming spring. Does it look bad to transfer twice? I feel like my application results suffered a great deal b/c the schools in question only saw my first semester grades, which weren't reflective of my ability. My high school record is outstanding (top 2 percent, competitive high school) and SATs in the mid 1400s and SAT IIs, 3 over 720+. This record didnt seem to help me when I applied for transfer.

If I can pull out another good semester at NU, like a 3.8+ like I did at my ivy, do I have a shot at Columbia, Duke, Stanford, and Dartmouth. Stanford and Dartmouth, I should note that I never applied to either school as a freshman or transfer. Should this be an advantage?

Does it look bad to transfer twice, even if I am trying to move up?????

Plz help?????

Thanks!!!!!!

not to put you on the defensive, but why do you think you aren't going to like northwestern?

EDIT: and let me guess, you went to cornell? heh, because everybody loves brown

is this bball87? so much for 'protecting your identity'.. haha.

honestly, i think it's pretty stupid to transfer out of cornell, go to northwestern, and go for a top ivy the next year. you should've just stayed at cornell, but oh well. you live and you learn.

anyways, i'm sure you have a 'shot' at those schools since your stats are there, but good luck explaining why in the world you went from cornell to northwestern to _________.

"honestly, i think it's pretty stupid to transfer out of cornell, go to northwestern, and go for a top ivy the next year. you should've just stayed at cornell, but oh well. you live and you learn"

I agree, stupid move. $20 says he couldn't get into Cornell again. Live and learn? Sometimes the whole learning part flies by people.

yeah, Northwestern's SAT scores are clearly not an imporvement over Cornell's. Better continue the college search, bball...

Do you think it's bball? I thought he said he was goin to Rice...

it's definitely bball.. haha. and i'm pretty sure he was deciding between chicago and NU.

See he made the mistake when he turned down Chicago. That decision will haunt him for a long time.

it's bball.

here he says he was at either brown or Cornell while on another thread he says he was rejected from Brown. Need I go further.

At Cornell, bball had a 3.6 first semester, 3.95 second. Also, he started a thread early in the year asking about the spanish class. This "simbajune" boasts the same scores.

as a transfer bball got into NU, WUSL, Rice, Chicago. He didn't get into 2 other ivys and he was waitlisted at 2 others. Simbajune did as well.

The odds that this is a coincidence are so very slim that i'd be willing to pay for somebody's college education if i'm wrong.

Bball, get a life.

No offense but you basically know everything about this guy whom you don't even know in real life and yet you tell him to "get a life"? Does the word hypocrite or irony come to mind?

No Colin you don't know this guy. He is a complete arrogant jackdonkey.

colin - though i don't know "simbajune" in real life a blessing, he was a very frequent poster under another screen name, bball87. Over the past year or so he's accumulated thousands of posts. Do a search and you'll see.

What a prestige whore. bball, i'm willing to bet you're one of those kids who in class asks kids what their SAT score is. Absolutely pathetic.

pwned (10)

simbajune is clearly bball87 (beyond stats, facts, etc, the content of his posts and his writing style is the same). Although he can be abrasive, I am starting to feel sorry for him.

He had very good (but not superstar) stats out of high school, did very well at Cornell, but was unhappy and trashed the school at every opportunity. He got into several good schools as a tranfer but couldn't make up his mind where to attend. He posted many questions about his prospective transfer schools and focused on ranking and prestige factors. Now that he has transferred, it appears that he is unhappy with his new school situation.

bball, just try to enjoy where you are. You can't be there very long, and there should be a great undergraduate experience there if you focus on what Northwestern has to offer. You have the ability to do well there, and that will open many doors for you after you graduate.

gomer, good luck at SUNY CORNELL

dissssssssed

Good luck being a miserable fool

ps you transfered to a lower ranked school...in ur book that makes you even worse off. Poor baby...

o, so ur saying that Brown and Rice and JHU are lower than cornell....ookk, ur the fool

Brown and Rice both have lower peer assessments than Cornell (seen worse academically as a whole than Cornell).

Thanks for wishing me luck at SUNY Cornell!! I can tell you're trying to find buttons to push, even if what you say isn't true and you know it.

at least I'll have that Cornell degree. Something you won't. ;) Sucka...

lol this thread is hilarious
